Customer Service Difficult to Get Billing Resolution Now Over Three Months

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

When I called customer service to confirm a payment billing change to a new bank account, I was told my payment status was in arrears for three months. I authorized these catch-up payments, thinking this was a result of my banking change.

Upon reviewing my bank statements, I discovered I was never in arrears and have spent two months with five different customer service representatives trying to get these three extra payments made in March 2024 refunded. Each time there was no resolution, even after I provided copies of my bank statements proving that I had been current with all monthly payments. In addition to all of this, my out-of-pocket costs for non-covered events now total almost $20,000. In summary, this insurance is suitable for covering catastrophic medical expenses but, for normal events- especially considering the expense to add coverage for surgery and then ultimately the policy termination at the end of that year- the usefulness of this coverage is, in practice, very limited.

Customer service in my experience has been terrible! I'm exploring coverage options with other providers.

Will lie to sell a policy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The worst! STAY AWAY!!

This review is specifically related to my experience with US Health Group but applies to all insurance brokers.

Don't put your contact info into one of those deceitful, "free quote" sites. You will begin getting phone calls, texts, and emails from every insurance broker in your state trying to sell you a policy.

- it's virtually impossible to stop them from contacting you

- they will lie to get your business

- $625/month is what you will pay for insurance coverage that amounts to almost nothing

- many commonly prescribed medications are not covered, so I often had to pay $400-600 at the pharmacy

If you've already put your number into the free quote system, do NOT listen to any one of the agents who contacts you.

- they will not hesitate to lie if it helps convince you to give them your money

- Freedom Life, aka US Health Group, aks UNITED HEALTHCARE and companies like this are the worst sort of organizations made up of the worst sort of people

- the entire insurance system is in ruins, and these companies are taking advantage of vulnerable people who are seeking medical treatment

If you think you have found the lone honest insurance broker and decide to let that person sell you health insurance...

- don't let them convince you that your pre-existing condition will be covered immediately

- again, your pre-existing condition will not be covered!

- it will not be covered!

- your broker will lie and once the sale is complete, the broker will disappear

- when you lose contact with your broker, the insurance company will let you know that there is a loophole that disqualifies you from immediate care

- you must remain with the insurance company for a full year before you can receive treatment for an illness you were told specifically would be covered

- so, as you pay $625 per month for terrible health coverage, you will have to wait a year for treatment

Stay AWAY from USHEALTH Group!

Do not use a broker!

Find a reputable insurance company by doing your own research.

Mislead and Ripped off by Freedom Life Insurance

Ushealth Group - Mislead and Ripped off by Freedom Life Insurance
Updated by user Oct 22, 2020

Company failed to provide call recording proving I was informed by their agent about plan.

Original review Oct 22, 2020

Dear Americans,

Never buy a any kind of Insurance from Freedom Life Insurance (US Health Group), they are the white collar insurance mafia/scammer.

I bought medical coverage from them for the year 2019 and it changed my family's financial life. I paid $400+/month for me-wife-son, in April 2019 my wife had emergency ectopic pregnancy surgery and that's where Freedom life insurance got exposed.

They covered nothing and I got bill of $11000 just for 1 night at hospital. Mr Hunt( Agent) said don't pay anything till EOB comes from insurance company, waited waited and got call form hospital that insurance denied the coverage and we have to pay of of pocket. In meanwhile, we been to my son's pediatric for regular visit and vaccinations(Jan-Aug) of course that was not covered either. Mr Hunt said he will try what he can do...

he got back in month saying that you guys cancelled (In october) the plan so you are not covered anymore(In October) so he cannot help and I should try calling clinic.

Lost so much hard money + $11000 hospital bill is still pending...I am crying while writing this review.

I asked Freedom Life Insurance to provide a call recording when Mr Hunt singed me up. They don't record the phone calls but they have a document saying I said yes for everything (how?)

Complaint on BBB is closed - Justice not served.

DO NOT ENROLLED FOR FREEDOM LIFE INSURANCE- WHITE COLLAR SCAMMERS

Nothing was covered as they said it would be

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had this coverage for 3 months. Each of the 3 minor claims had problems getting paid and the providers also stated to me that the coverage was not what it had appeared to be prior to the appt.

I had called to make sure provider was in network each time. Podiatrist couldn't get it billed property to get it paid, so they wrote off the bill. The urgent care visit where I was not even given a discount is what I am most upset about. My dog ran into my legs very fast and I thought I might have a break.

I called US Health to confirm the Aurora urgent care I was going to was in network, they confirmed it was. I confirmed at the clinic that I was in network they confirmed it. I didn't need xrays, I only had a talk with a dr and he moved my leg around. For this 30 minute visit, I was billed $300.

My monthly cost for the insurance is $500! Then I was told that this is bcause that particular doctor was not in network even though the facility was, this is not how the care is billed. As a consumer, there was no way for me to know who was providing services or that I had to check for this in addition to the facility. This is misleading and a ridiculous that US Health wouldn't cover this visit at the reduced rate.

None of the coverage was what I understood it to be at any of the 3 appts/claims I had. They were misleading in what my coverage was and how I could make sure to use in network providers.

I LOVE this insurance

I have insurance through USHEALTH and they never once claimed to have CIGNA health insurance as mentioned in a previous post of someone who was unhappy. In fact, my agent was adamant in the fact they did not sell CIGNA insurance.

CIGNA is simply the PPO network they use. All doctors and all insurance companies have to join a network. I love my insurance and have for the last three years I have been with them. I wouldn't change if someone paid me to.

This insurance literally saved my family after my wife was in a freak car accident and was in the hospital for days.

Our max out of pocket is $3,000.

I haven't found any other insurance that comes anywhere near a max out of pocket that low, and for as cheap as we pay each month. I would recommend this insurance to EVERYONE, and I do!

BEWARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I feel this company is very misleading and untrustworthy. I had a representative explain their healthcare policy and helped me get signed up.

He said I would receive my paperwork explaining the full benefits of my plan in a few weeks. He made the insurance sound amazing and explained my policy would cover accident protection, serious illness plan, specialists, and no referral needed. I was also told that my deductible was $4000 and I would never pay more than that out of pocket. When people sign up for insurance they hope they never need it, unfortunately I did.

I had to see a specialist and surgery was recommended ASAP, I had surgery a few days later. I got home from the hospital and started receiving Explanation of Benefits from the company denying coverage for anything. My specialists visits were denied because their offices were located in a hospital/out patient facility even though my agent said specialists were covered 80/20. Nothing was mentioned about location.

A week after my surgery I was diagnosed with cancer. Yesterday I received a total bill from the hospital for almost $19000. I called US Health Group, aka Freedom Life, and their representative told me surgery wasn't covered under my plan. This was never explained to me and I believed in good faith that all insurance covered surgeries to some extent.

I then asked about the serious illness plan that was included with my plan since I was diagnosed with cancer.

I was told that female reproductive issues weren't covered unless you had the policy for six months, again this was never mentioned to me when signing up. I pay almost $500 a month for my husband and I and they refuse to cover anything.

This is insurance is definitely trash and it is not good if you have an infant. i have been working in corporate america for a while so i knew what i needed.

i didn't get what I asked for with this policy. What ticked me off the most is the fact that it only pays $50 towards immunizations. no biggie right? well it is because the shots came up to be hundreds of dollars after one visit.

I dropped cigna, and now, i have a new plan. i pray it's better until i can find something even better.
